FA - FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT GOALS/PRIORITY OBJECTIVES

As the Board seeks to overcomestrengthen deficienciesand inimprove itsschool physical plant,facilities it will strive to provide new and remodeled facilities that will offer the best possible physical environment for learning and teaching.

The Board aims specifically toward:

  1. New buildings and renovations that will accommodate and facilitate those new organizational and instructional patterns that support the school system's educational philosophy and instructional goals;
      
  2. Meeting allcurrent safety and building code requirements through the remodeling of older structures;
      
  3. Providing such building renovations as needed to meetensure requirementsaccessibility onfor theall availabilitystudents, ofstaff, publicand schoolcommunity facilities to individualsmembers with disabilities; and
      
  4. Building design and construction that will lendresult toin lowreduced maintenance costs and the conservation of energy. These two factors will alsocontinue beto givenreceive special consideration in theall renovation ofprojects.

It is the Board's goal to provide the appropriate facilities needed for the number of students in the district and to provide the kind of facilities that will best support and accommodate the educational program. To support this end, there should always be a five-year district facilities plan onwill filebe withmaintained the Board, which isand updated everyannually twoto years.inform decision making regarding facility needs and actions.

Decisions pertaining to the educational specifications of new buildings and those undergoing extensive remodeling will be developed only after the viewpoints of administrators, teachers, studentsstudents, parents and parentscommunity members have been sought.considered.
