ADF - CAPE ELIZABETH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT COMMITMENT TO LEARNING RESULTS
The School Board hereby adopts theMaine's system of learningLearning resultsResults, including the Guiding Principles, and the Maine Department of Education’s applicable rules. The learningLearning resultsResults system isare intended to serve as a foundation for education reformreform, including the standard-based system of learning, and to provide assessment of student learning, accountability and equitable opportunities for all students to access the content standards. The Board recognizes that the legislative intent of the learningLearning results systemResults is to provide children with schools that reflect high expectations and create conditions where these expectations can be met.
The Board understands that implementation of the learningLearning resultsResults systemand hasthe mandate to provide all students with equitable opportunities to meet the content standards have broad implications for the school unit,department, including curriculum, budget, professional development, student assessment, professional evaluation, and graduation requirements. Therefore, the Board is committed to examining its policies and practices to makeensure themthey are consistent with the intent and goals of the learningLearning resultsResults system.
The Board directs the Superintendent tois develop a plan and timelineresponsible for implementing the learning results system andof Learning Results including any appropriate administrative procedures. The Board further directs the Superintendent to report to the Board annually on astudent regularachievement basis onand progress toward implementing the learningLearning results system.Results.
